I have experience with HVSN and want to teach for you
Thank you so much for your interest! Whenever possible, we use local veterinarians and staff to teach and support our work.
However, we are looking to grow. If you have a connection to a region or clinic that could support our ideals, please let us know and we would love to involve you in those retreats!
Ecuador HVSN Training Retreat FAQs
Is this trip right for me?
This retreat is for licensed veterinarians who are already proficient in basic surgery but want to learn or master high-volume, small-incision techniques. It's also for those who value community impact and want a balanced experience of professional growth and destination wellness. If you're looking for a traditional 'volunteer' experience or a standard veterinary conference, this might not be the right fit.
How much CE will I earn?
Participants will earn 15 hours of RACE-approved continuing education credit. This includes hands-on surgical instruction, community outreach clinical hours, and guided academic discussions throughout the retreat.
What is the 'Amici Cannis' impact?
Up to 40% of every participant's retreat fee goes directly to Amici Cannis, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health and welfare of dogs in Ecuador. Your trip directly funds year-round veterinary care, sterilization programs, and community education in Cotacachi.
What about international travel?
Ecuador is easily accessible from most major U.S. hubs. You should book your arrival to Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO) in Quito. We provide airport transfers on the official arrival and departure days to make your travel as seamless as possible.
Is the deposit refundable?
Your $1,000 deposit is non-refundable. Because of the small group size and the advanced planning required for clinical work and boutique accommodations, we cannot offer refunds on deposits. We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance that includes 'Cancel for Any Reason' coverage.
